Alvin Lucier Concert Posters

This poster series was made to visualize some of the ideas of composer Alvin Lucier. His works are typically not described with notes, but rather as a situation generating sound.
The main visual element of these posters was made from several films with iron oxide powder that were placed on top of a loudspeaker playing Alvin Lucier's ‘Music on a Long Thin Wire’. The vibrations and the electromagnetic waves from the speaker created the different shapes. The time-codes from the music were added as references. The poster was silk-screened with a frame showing the loudspeaker and different combinations of the films to visualize the sound.
