Stamm was created to be a platform for people working within photography, design and fashion in Germany. Each book had one theme and contained pictorials and stories by Bernhard Willhelm, Raf Simons, Frank Leder, Peter Saville, Rankin, Bless and others. Vladimir Llovet Casademont (NODE) did art direction and editorial work for the book series.
The name Stamm points to the project’s German origin and the logo is made from the old German handwriting ‘Sütterlin’. This is a script, created by the Berlin graphic artist Ludwig Sütterlin (1865—1917). The books also contain German sayings written in ‘Sütterlin’, translated into English in an ‘ordinary’ sans-serif typeface.
