Apparatjik is a transdisciplinary working collective founded in 2008 by Guy Berryman (Coldplay), Jonas Bjerre (Mew), Magne Furuholmen (A-ha) and producer Martin Terefe. The Apparatjik Light Space Modulator will be opening with a performance at Neue Nationalgalerie 12 March and accompanied by a publication in collaboration with NODE to be published in late 2011 including a comprehensive documentation of this project.

autoR is conceived as a self-organizing process for which visitors are invited to apply a large number of stickers in seven different colors to a white background on the facade of Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin.

We are working with the publications for this new exhibition series at Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Dan Mihaltianu, a 1990s Berlin transplant from Bucharest, will set the series in motion. His ‘Plaques tournantes’ revolve around the drifting, colliding continental plates, center and periphery, gravitational pull and flight. ‘Turntables’ composed of video, audio, vinyl records and a variety of electronic devices make up a room installation which pivots on the classic of electronic entertainment: the 45 rpm single.

We recently returned from a thrilling workshop with the 1st year master students of Bergen Academy of the Arts, Norway. The assigment was to found a weekly student Film Club and corresponding screenings. Each student’s work was built around an individually selected movie. British artist Phil Collins turns the Temporäre Kunsthalle into an indoor stationary drive-in cinema. In a cluster of secondhand cars installed in the space individual vehicles serve as booths or box-seats, offering the audience an intimate situation in which to enjoy a rotating program of artists’ videos and film classics.
We have been producing the design elements for the show and currently work on the accompanying publication. -- Opening this Thursday, 9pm. Read more here.

We are busy with the exhibition and book design for ‘Animism’, a long-term exhibition and publication project first presented as a collaboration of Extra City Kunsthal Antwerpen and the Museum of Contemporary Art (M HKA). A second version of the exhibition will be shown at Kunsthalle Bern from May till July 2010. Subsequent versions will be developed at the Generali Foundation in Vienna and the House of World Cultures in Berlin in 2011 and 2012, respectively. The accompanying publication – the first in a series of two – connects several recent attempts at rethinking animism from a variety of perspectives, and traces their various historical genealogies. -- Read more here

Konst & Teknik invited NODE and twelve other fellow artists and designers to create an image using a beta version of Jonathan Puckey's Delaunay Raster. The results have been collected in the publication ‘Trace a Face’, released this week in Stockholm. A Berlin release is set to be on 9th December. More info here.

The Mere Records website has finally been released. It has become a great website, if we may say so ourselves. Many thanks to our German/Mexican programmer/designer and friend André Pahl. The CD, ‘Garbage Collection’ by Risto Holopainen as well as a couple of Mere T-shirts were designed by NODE too.
